Pastoral Areas in the Diocese of Meath

Following an extensive consultation process with Parish Pastoral Councils and the Council of Priests, Bishop Deenihan has formally established 14 new pastoral areas in the Diocese of Meath.

Having considered the pastoral needs of the Diocese in light of demographic shifts, the aging profile of clergy and the need for strengthened collaboration between parishes, clergy and lay faithful, it is desired these new structures will promote more effective pastoral care, increased shared responsibility and the coordination of evangelising initiatives across the Diocese.

Each Pastoral Area shall be entrusted to a Pastoral Area Coordinator, who will assist in fostering communion, coordianting pastoral initiatives, supporting clergy and lay ministries and ensuring the implementation of diocesan pastoral priorities.
