40 Hour Adoration

Let us Draw Near to the Lord

40 Hour Adoration

To celebrate the Solemnity of Christ the King this year, there will be 40 Hours Adoration in the Cathedral, beginning with Mass at 7:30 pm on Friday, 24th November and concluding with Solemn Vespers and Benediction at 4 pm on Sunday 26th November to which all are welcome.

As part of the 40 Hours Devotion, Confessions will be heard in the Cathedral continually from 12 noon to 12 midnight on Saturday 25th November.

Bishop Deenihan has asked that prayers would be offered for the following intentions during the weekend:

· for the children preparing for the Sacraments and for their families, that they may grow in love for Christ in the Eucharist

· for a return to the Eucharist in our parish communities

· for vocations to the priesthood and religious life in our Diocese.

“Only in adoration, only in the presence of the Lord, do we truly rediscover our taste and passion for evangelization. Oddly enough, we have lost the prayer of adoration; and everyone, priests, bishops, consecrated men and women, need to recover it, this ability to be quiet in the Lord’s presence.”
