Fr Michael Sheerin was a native of Castletown-Geoghegan parish and was educated at St Finian’s College and St Patrick’s College, Maynooth.

He was ordained in 1963 and served for a short time in Tullamore and Delvin before being appointed to the staff of St Finian’s College, Mullingar in 1965.

In 1966 he was appointed to the staff of St Patrick’s Classical School, Navan and served as Headmaster from 1987 to 1989.

From 1989 to 1990 Fr Sheerin served on loan to the Diocese of Rockham in Australia before his appointment to Lobinstown as Parish Priest in September 1990.

He served as Parish Priest there for 26 years until his retirement due to ill health in September 2016 and moved shortly after to Woodlands Nursing Home in Navan.

Funeral arrangements: Removal to Church of The Holy Cross, Lobinstown, Tuesday 31st January, 7pm. Requiem Mass Wednesday at 12 noon.
