Diocese Prepares for Chrism Mass

May we be renewed in the life of Christ.

Diocese Prepares for Chrism Mass

During this Jubilee Year of Hope, Bishop Deenihan will celebrate the Chrism Mass on Wednesday 16th April at 7pm in the Cathedral of Christ the King, Mullingar. The Chrism Mass is an important moment in the life of a Diocese.

The bishop will bless the Oil of Catechumens and the Oil of the Sick, and consecrate the Sacred Chrism. These oils will be used in the sacraments throughout the coming year.

The priests of the diocese will renew their priestly promises—a public act of commitment at the heart of Holy Week. It is a moment of visible unity between bishop, clergy, and people. We welcome members of their families who join us for the Chrism Mass.

Parishioners from across the diocese are invited to attend the Chrism Mass. Refreshments will be available afterwards in the Community Centre for parishioners who travel for the celebration.
