Celebration of World Day for Consecrated Life

Celebration of World Day for Consecrated Life

In 1997, Pope Saint John Paul II instituted a day of prayer for women and men in consecrated life. This celebration is attached to the Feast of the Presentation of the Lord on February 2nd.

Each year, the church celebrates the contribution of men and women in religious Orders and Congregations to the Church on the Feast of the Presentation, February 2nd. This Feast is also known as Candlemas Day; the day on which candles are blessed symbolizing Christ who is the light of the world. So too, those in consecrated life are called to reflect the light of Jesus Christ to all peoples.

To celebrate the contribution of religious to the Diocese of Meath, there will be a celebration of Sung Vespers and blessing of Candles in the Cathedral in Mullingar at 4pm on Sunday, January 29th 2023. The reflection will be given by Sr. Karol O’Connell of Kylemore Abbey.

All are welcome to join with, support and pray for the religious of the Diocese in this celebration.
