17 April: Day of Prayer for Vocations to the Priesthood

There are currently six students for the priesthood in the Diocese of Meath.

These include Deacons Conor McGee (Maynooth) and Warren Collier (Rome) who will be ordained priests during the summer months.  Kevin Connolly and Fergal Cummins, (both students in Maynooth) are pictured above with Rev. Conor McGee while Tony Shannon and Aaron Slattery are continuing their studies at the Irish College in Rome.

Seminary formation is a time of prayer, study, engagement in pastoral work and as an opportunity to grow as people who will serve the Lord in priestly ministry. Please continue to pray for the students and that the Lord will send more labourers into the vineyard.

Our Vocations Committee will holds its first diocesan vocations retreat day next Saturday, 23 April in Dalgan Park, Navan.

Fr Shane Crombie, Vocations Director, explains that the retreat is offered to men and women aged 18 years to 40 years who are exploring their vocation in life. He points out that every member of the Church has ‘a call’ to holiness, achieved in many different ways.  Some paths lead to priesthood, some to marriage or the single life, some to the religious life.

Starting with registration at 9.30am, the retreat day will conclude at 5pm.  It includes contributions from clergy, religious, married and single people will explore the meaning of God’s call in all forms of vocation. Donation only; lunch and refreshments will be provided. For further information, contact youthretreats@gmail.com.
