The death has occurred of Mons. Willie Cleary on Sunday 19 July 2015.

Mons. Cleary was a native of Rathwire in the parish of Killucan. He was ordained on 22 June 1959 and served for two years in Castlecomer (Diocese of Ossory).  He returned to the Diocese of Meath and ministered as chaplain to St Loman's Hospital for seven years until 1967, following which he was curate in the Cathedral of Christ the King, Mullingar becoming Administrator in July 1980.  

He was appointed Parish Priest of Kilcormac 1988 and subsequently Parish Priest of Tullamore in December 1989.  He became Vicar General of the Diocese of Meath in 1994.  Mons. Cleary has served as curate in Mornington since September 2004.

In recognition of his service to the local parish, Mass will be offered in the church in Mornington on Tuesday 21 July at 8pm, following which Mons. Cleary’s remains will be transferred to Tullamore.  

The reception of remains will take place in Tullamore parish church on Wednesday 22 July at 7pm.  Requiem Mass will be celebrated on Thursday 23 July at 12 noon.
